Ryan Marshall

Coach Ryan Marshall is a co owner of ANiMAL CrossFit & FASST - Strength & Speed for Athletes. In early 2001 while rehabbing from a knee reconstruction, Ryan decided to study the body and get his first certification as a trainer. After training himself & others in a traditional gym setting for a few years, Coach Ryan would go on to train and coach athletes in numerous facilities in Northern NJ. While fortunate enough to work with many premier high school & college athletes in the state, Ryan believes it is the experience of working with people of all different ages, abilities and lifestyles which has benefited him most. After a shoulder surgery in 2009, Ryan used CrossFit and it's 'scalability' as a way to return to training. After a couple years of garage / driveway at home workouts, ANiMAL was born. BELiEVE

Keith McHugh

Prior to encountering Crossfit Keith played competitive sports his entire life considering himself a “gym rat” since 1996. Keith found CrossFit in 2007 and fell in love immediately. Training mainly on his own or with one or two of his buddy’s at various CrossFit affiliates or in his own backyard. Receiving his L1 Cert in 2010 and have been coaching ever since… "I began coaching because I passionately believe in the life-changing benefits of functional fitness. Crossfit has helped me to not only to be in the best shape of my life, but has also helped me be a better husband and father and the positive work habits it creates has had a significant impact in my professional life. I believe that the positive training environment created through this community to be one of the key factors in helping clients overcome self-doubt or perceived limitations to achieve their full potential." John Bartlett
Coach

John is one of our founding members at ANiMAL CrossFit. A product of the system in the most literal sense. He had been an average gym goer for years before he discovered CrossFit. After about a year and a half John become CF-L1 certified. You might hear him spouting off movie quotes that no more than 5% of Earth could recall. He can make it through 40+ minute workouts without a single hair moving out of place. His hobbies include watching movies, playing video games, and being inappropriate whenever possible. John’s mission is to change the lives of ANiMAL CrossFit members by giving them the gift of fitness – one he embraces daily.

James Sayson

Fitness and health fanatic, Gym rat since I was young, crossfit level 1 certification. I strongly believe in developing proper form first in lifting before anything else. In addition, I am a critical care registered Nurse full time so I know how important it is to treat your body now because I see the effects of living an unhealthy life each and everyday I go to work. Other hobbies include snowboarding, longboarding, riding motorcycles, traveling the world.

Running Endurance Coach

CrossFit Endurance Certified, working towards a Master’s in Sports Administration and Coaching I never thought a sport would change my life until I started running. When I joined my H.S. Cross Country team in Rutherford, my mother literally laughed in my face and told me I couldn’t run. Ten years later, I am a Boston Qualified runner. What I love most about coaching is seeing the hard work my athletes put in every class and having it reflect not only on the pavement and track but seeing it transfer into their CrossFit workouts and more importantly their daily lives. When I’m not coaching or training for a marathon I’m actually a very lazy person- my idea of great night is sitting in my sweats watching a hockey game. However I do love to read and travel and go on adventures to see and experience new things, especially when it comes to food. I am a huge foodie and love to eat, especially carbs.
