ANiMALs, CrossFitters and Hockey… Oh My!

Two weeks ago CrossFitters from across New Jersey and New York ascended on Championship Plaza outside of the Prudential Center for the inaugural CrossFit Night at the Prudential Center presented by ANiMAL CrossFit and CrossFit West Essex. CrossFit Night included a friendly workout outside, free t-shirts, free hats, and a hockey game for friends, families and CrossFitters alike on October 16th.

During the pre- game Fan Fest, boxes from around the area sent teams of two (male only, female only) to compete in a friendly W.O.D. on the Plaza that showed to fans of all ages and backgrounds that CrossFit is for everyone. The pre-game Fan Fest was then followed by a Devils game against the San Jose Sharks.

The goal of CrossFit Night was to showcase CrossFit as an approachable fun way to get in shape and stay in shape. CrossFit is defined as that which optimizes fitness by practicing constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity is both inclusive, focusing on specific movements that are CrossFit pillars like Olympic Lifts or gymnastic movements, but general so as to have scalable options for every fitness level.

Even more importantly that the fitness component is the community aspect that arises from people working out together. There is a drive to make the entire community better and push each other not only in the box but outside the box as well.

The night was a complete success from no one busting open their shins on box jumps during the pregame workout, to the in game promotion of CrossFit alongside the “Flex Cam”, and no one slipping on the ice during post game photos on the logo. Overall the night brought in 650 CrossFitters to the Prudential Center and showed how strong the CrossFit Community is in New Jersey. As a member & Endurance Coach of ANiMAL CrossFit and one of the two women who spear headed CrossFit Night at the Prudential Center presented by ANiMAL CrossFit and CrossFit West Essex I could not have asked for a better support system to help me promote this night for my professional career.
